Qualifications for Account Manager
Internal Applicants
- At least one year as a Carrier Manager w/recommendation from Director of Operations
- At least one year in Accounting w/recommendation from Director of Finance
- Must be willing to obtain CTB (Certified Transportation Broker) certificate if not currently certified (All expenses are covered by L&L Freight Services)
External Applicants
- 3+ years’ experience in the transportation industry with a focus in a sales oriented position
- 2+ years’ Brokerage experience
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required
- TMS experience preferred but not required
- Existing business contacts
- Knowledge of pricing TL shipments and market awareness
- Hunter mentality
- Team-oriented
- Microsoft Word/Excel knowledge
- A creative and innovative thinker to bring successful resolution to customer issues.
Position Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop new business with existing clients
- Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships
- Negotiate Contract and Spot Market pricing to maximize profits
- Collaborate with your Carrier Managers to identify carrier needs to grow opportunities with new and current customers
- Operate as the lead point of contact for any and all matters specific to your accounts
- Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our shipments according to customer needs and objectives
- Drive POD to exceed monthly profit and margin goals
- After hours on call on a rotational basis with other POD members
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
- Have knowledge of core carriers for your customer lanes
- Onsite Customer Visits with Director of Sales
- Attend Conferences when applicable
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks
